Never hit or raise your voice. You'll only scare the dog and create more problems....like being so upset they urinate on the spot.

Place your finger gently on the tip of the dogs nose, press down only slightly and make eye contact and firmly but not loudly say NO. When the dog stops, praise it.

Make a sound liek "Ouch!" If your pup is really excited grab their scruff. Increase pressure until the puppy has settled down. If they cry, know that you are not hurting them, but doing exactly what their own mother would do. Don't feel bad for them. Dogs respond to energy more than talking or cooing or yelling ect. They want a confident, strong, somewhat demanding owner to be happy and well adjusted.

No hitting! Or else everytime you bring your hand up overhead to pet him he will duck and squint.

When he starts to bite you let out a loud high pitched "yip" Biting is a normal form of play for puppies and when one has bit too hard then they let the other know by yelping or yipping. This will be how he knows he is doing it too hard. Another thing to try is cross your arms, hide your hands and sit real still and ignore the puppy. He will then stop for the moment. Then you start the play up again, not him.

you give it other things to chew and bite on;---

your puppy is most likely ,to be teething
and it 's gums itch ,
so it needs to bite and gnaw .

I always give my puppies, washed, peeled sticks of carrot

Non splintering bones ,
( be care ful to be sure they do not splinter and harm the puppy).

an old leather slipper, is always fun for a small dog

baked pigs ears ( from good pet shops)

raw-hide composition sticks " " " "

always have some of the chewing things,
available to distract your pup from chewing on you, or the furniture!

Dont worry ,they will grow out of the frantic biting chewing stage in a while .

Any time he/she bites, just grab his mouth around the nose and say "no biting." Hold it for about 5 secs and let go. This should teach the puppy but you MUST be consistant. Always punish lightly for bad behavior and, more importantly, praise for good behavior.

If it's playful puppy biting, tell him "no" firmly, then ignore him for a few minutes. If he wants to play and you quit playing whenever he bites, he will get the idea pretty quickly.

Every time you catch him trying to play bite, say No and switch a toy or chew that is okay for him to bite -- and say Good Bite. Eventually, they catch on. But don't rough house with it and you may want to try to spray to deter biting.

In the meantime, anything you can't stand to loose -- keep it off the floor and out of the way.

unfortantly you cant tell them no, because its what all puppies do they dont mean to hurt you their teeth are growing in, its there way off playing too im sorry but eventually he/she will grow out of the stage if you start to bleed flick him/her on the nose and say No,bad (pet's name) firmly using there name will make the dog relize this is bad and they know who they are but they dont know who "dog or puppy" is this should end around at six months i hope i helped

With my puppies I gave them a LIGHT smack on the nose and said "no bite". It took some time but they learned to stop when I told them too.

say no in a firm low voice. then give the pup a toy or bone , something he is allowed to chew on, and praise him. its called" the bait and switch" it has successfully worked on my four dogs. but keep n mind that puppys chew it just a phase they go through when their teething just like how babies cry and whine when their teething. be consistent and provide lots of appropriate things for him to naw on.
