best advice: read the label. if it says it will help give you smooth hair, then best bet it actually will (with aid from styling products of course). these companies pay big bucks for research. they would make many people very angry if it didn't do what it said!
if you have oily hair, look for a product that has citrus in it. the citric acid is a natural solvent and stripping agent. (lemon juice not only highlights your hair, but even takes icky fish smell away from things like your hands!)

Suave shampoo, you mean! They came out with a 2nd edition called SunSilk. Which has many formulas for all hair types. Both made by same company.
Check out www.drugstore.com for those products and compare ingrediants and prices. So you know what to expect at the store and hav your mind made up, what you want.
Just a cheap thing to do pour witch hazel in hair, to see it if it stops the oiliness. After shampooing. Don't get into eyes!

SUAVE shampoo is actually really decent for the price....I mostly use Herbal essences rainforest flowers for dry damaged or colored hair even though I have a bit of an oily scalp...keeps my hair from getting split ends...also good is the Garnier Fructis...they have whole ranges of shampoos and conditionners...My Fav. the oily/dry one...its for combo hair like mine :)

It definately is cheaper, but I find it to be very drying.
Most of the more expensive (better) shampoos don't have alcohol listed as one of the first 5 ingredients. Suave has alcohol in the first five. It is cheap...probably ok for guys, but girls who care about their hair shouldn't use it.

they're great. they have their own version of almost anything that's out there, it's hard to imagine that someone with oily hair can't use it. i have oily hair and have been using suave for most of my life. i recently bought the "radiant brunette" and it smells exactly like the john freida brilliant brunette. it made my hair so soft too!
i also knoww that they sell clarifying shampoo for normal/oily hair. although, it makes your hair REALLY squeaky and it knots more easily when it's this way.

they do have a oily hair formula however if you try it and it doesn't seem to work for you then I would discontinue using it. I use infusium it is expensive but works great and you don't have to use as much of it to clean your hair as you do with suave.

I like the way it smells and it seems to wash my hair well, but I find that I get a rash behind my ears when I use it.
