I have a 2000 VW Jetta TDI. The guy who sold it to me said it was the base model. The stock stereo sounds decent, also has a stock CD changer. How can I tell if it is the Monsoon system? Is the Monsoon system better?

Yes the monsoon is better, you can look on the front of your stereo and it should say monsoon if not it is a stock system.

Look in your trunk, if you see a black box hanging from the top part of the trunk on the right side, held in with four bolts, you have Monsoon. This would be the Monsoon amplifier.

Also, it will say Monsoon on the display of the headunit when you turn it on.
