do you still get a funeral? I've always wondered this since I was probably old enough to know what the death penatly is. and no one has ever been able to answer this for me.

I'm sure that even though a person receives the death penalty, there's someone out there that loved them, a family member perhaps. I don't have any data to back up my answer, but I would say yes. If one of my family members received the death penalty for something, I would still give them a funeral. I can't imagine a funeral home discriminating against how a person died.

I'm in Texas and, as I'm sure you know, we have an active death chamber here. The body is turned over to the family, if there is one to claim them. Depending on the crime, many families have disassociated themselves and will not claim the body. If no one claims them the body is placed in a usually unmarked grave, no name just a prison number, and the other prisoners dig the grave and cover the hole.

If a family member claims the body, then the family makes the funeral arrangements. I don't know what happens if you have no one to claim the body.

america is a free country and once youve been executed then you have fufilled your punishment. Besides your family has the funerial not you. They havent committed any crime so who is to stop them?

Yes if you have family if not they just pretty much bury you with no service
