I've driven to LV from LA before. Baker does have good places to eat, not to mention the world's tallest thermometer. Stop at the Nevada and California border and check out the roller coaster there. Sorry I can't remember the hotel name. Happy road trippin'!

If you want a place that offers everything food and otherwise.
Plan on stopping at a places call the Barstow Station
It is right off the freeway on Las Vegas side of Barstow.

It has one of the largest McDonald's in the USA. Plus a number of others spots. Ice Cream, Candy, and loads of fun. plus shops to just shop.

Huge parking lot, and about the cleanest bathrooms you well find on a road trip.

I from time to time do group tours from LA to Vegas, and know matter time of day or night, it is a stop for us.

Far a things of interest along the route, that is tough. On Cajon Pass at summit is a nice view if weather is clear. But otherwise, read the road signs as you go, some are funny and you might see something you want to do.

LA to LV

Shopping:
Ontario Mills Shopping Center off the 10 Freeway just before the 15
Barstow Outlet Mall off the 15 freeway at Lenwood.
There are also outlet shops at Primm.

Food:
There are lots of places to eat.
You can find a variety of restraunts in Barstoe on E. Main St. You just need to get a mile or 2 away from the freeway.

In Baker, there is a Greek restraunt called the Mad Greek. I have not been to that particular one, but I have been to the one in Riverside, and it is very tasty.

Here's my general plan for driving to Las Vegas.

Stop in Barstow at the Lenwood Road Outlets. They have a few of the higher end outlet stores and a good variety of places to eat including InNOut, Panda Express, etc. This is a shorter stop and may just involve drinks and a quick look around.

Stop at Stateline at the Primm Valley Outlet Mall. If you have kids there is a Carl's Jr. with a giant playland located outside the mall in the parking lot. Fantastic Williams Sonoma Outlet store as well as other nice outlet stores. Food selections in the mall are limited. You may want to try over at Buffalo Bill's food court for a better selection. There is also a McDonald's if you are in the mood. The roller coaster someone mentioned is over at Buffalo Bill's.

Once you get in Vegas proper there is one last outlet mall on the South end of town. Nice to stop either coming in or going out of Vegas.

Depending on where you are leaving from, Ontario Mills is also another nice place to stop. They have quite a selection of stores and there are plenty of places to eat in and out of the mall.

Enjoy your trip!
