Say a woman is a hemophiliac. This means she has a genetic disease that prevents her blood from clotting, meaning any cuts she never stop bleeding during the healing process. Say she gets pregnant, if she gives birth the many injuries she will sustain will cause her to bleed to death no matter what a doctor does. However, an abortion in the first trimester will not harm her and will save her life. Would you deny this woman an abortion? Or do you believe you can force a woman to give up her own life for her child's?

For those of you saying abortion could kill her, abortion in the first and second trimesters would, but in the first trimester it is liquified and flushed, no harm to the mother.

The choice is the mothers to make. There are some women who would chose death to give the child life, but not all, and I think most people agree that when the mother's life is at stake, an abortion is acceptable.

As I understand it, from a Mormon point of view, if someone has become pregnant by rape or incest, or if the mother's life is in danger, and she has counseled with the doctor and prayed about it, then she is allowed to do whatever needs to be done to preserve her life. Whether that is an abortion or waiting to see if something is developed to help her get through the entire pregnancy is up to her and God. She might also want to consult with a bishop so that everything is in the clear. Remember, new treatments are being developed all the time.

Pregnancy and childbirth are safe for hemophiliacs. In fact, one article said:

"Are women with bleeding disorders more at risk for bleeding during pregnancy? No. In fact, for many women the opposite is true. They have less bleeding than they normally do. This is because high hormone levels during pregnancy stimulate the production of blood clotting proteins...Most women have few bleeding problems during pregnancy, or during childbirth."

Doctors used to deliver babies to hemophiliacs mainly by c-section, but many now see even regular vaginal delivery as safe. See:

I think you have a flawed understanding of first trimester abortions. Please take a look at:

If the mother's life is at risk then abort the child before the first trimester ends. However, two separate doctors should come to the same conclusion. And Allah knows best.

I am a Christian, and I believe abortion is murder. Nevertheless, I also firly believe that Jesus died on the corss to redeem us from the power of the law, which is the power to condemn us for sinning. Therefore, in this particular case, I believe that God can and will forgive the mother for aborting the baby. I also believe that He would forgive the mother for deciding to carry the baby to full term, knowing that it would be suicide for her to do so. Abortion is not the unforgivable sin, neither is murdwer, even of the unborn. I believe the grace of God is greater than anyone here on earth gives credit for.

It would be the choice of the mother, period. Only she could answer if she wanted to submit her own body for this sacrifice. She would never live to see the baby, and she also might pass the same illness to her baby. But there is also a 50% chance that she might not. She wouldn't know how her gamble fared. She would also know of all of the risks involved either way. This is exactly why the choice should be the mother's and not the government.
The government wouldn't know any of this.

Medically, I'm sure there are things they can do for her either way. She doesn't have to bleed to death. But, I think a woman should have the right and option to have an abortion or not, as she chooses.

There are hemophillacs that have had babies. I would take the chance.....abortion is still muder, what if there were a law passed that if a woman aborted her baby she also had to abort herself? Or why not wait until the child is two or three and if you don't like it abort it then......you have to have faith that whatever happens God will handle

No. I'm 100% pro-life, but in this case, I could not force someone to make the decision between two lives, and her abortion, if she chose to go that route, could be done in the hospital by a doctor. I say that to lead up to stating my opinion that abortion clinics are not necessary, because life/death should be the ONLY time abortion is legal and acceptable.

I'm sure the answer you will mostly get is "I would pray for her". Don't expect any conversions in this area of Answers.

Of course, the woman has a legal right to choose what to do, regardless of her health issues. We have far too many unwanted children in this world.
