How old was you child when diagnosed?
How long ago?
What kind (or level) of autism?
Was it difficult getting the doctor to make the diagnoses?
or was it hard for the doctor to get you to accept the diagnoses?

Sorry I am making this a 4-parter, but I wanted all the answers together.

My son never received an official dx, by our choice. I had an interview in which a lot of questions were asked, and they said it was definitely on the spectrum, high-functioning, probably PDD-NOS. He was going to turn three in two months, so they wanted me to go through the school district for further testing, and we refused. I KNEW he was autistic, they confirmed it, that was enough for me. We will be homeschooling our kids, we're doing preschool right now, and I jsut didn't want the involvement of the school district. He is VERY high-functioning now, we've worked really hard in the last year on his issues. His biggest problems are speech and behavior. He had serious sensory issues, but have worked through most of those. I do my own therapy with him, as well as a boy I babysit.

My son has never had the exact diagnosis of autism. One Dr. said he is borderline autistic. He is 7 and we noticed a severe speech delay at the age of 3.He also has many sensory integration issues. He just entered special needs 1st grade--and ,thank God,is doing very well! He is mainstreamed each day also.
Best wishes:)
