in general regardless if they are illegal or not? It's really sad to see so much hatred spewed on Yahoo Answers and the worst part is that it's mainly based on racism and not on any sound arguments. There are other minorities in this country and it seems like Mexicans are easy targets for everyone. Let's try to have a constructive debate instead of shock value rants and raves.

Society needs to decide whether they want Mexicans to assimilate or not. People complain that Mexicans don't make an effort to assimilate, but than we have people like our friend who said that why do Mexicans try to act like Americans when they can't. I think if Mexican assimilated into American society they would be better accepted. This does not mean that they should denounce their culture, but it means that they should conform to the ways of this country especially if they chose to stay here and have families.

In regards to the language issue brought up. I agree regardless of what country you move to you should learn their language and not expect to be catered to, but why be so ademant about learning another language besides English. In many countries in Europe and many other parts of the world including the Middle East people speak more than one language as it taught at school from a very young age. Being multi lingual can bring good higher paying job opportunites. For example, the State Department is hunting for people who speak Arabic to be intelligence analyst and they pay way more than your average out of college job.

People think that all Mexicans are illegal or if they're legal now they must have done something illegal to get that way. That is not at all true. Most Mexicans in America actually decend from people who were living here when we stole this land from Mexico during the Mexican-American war. (side note: many illegals justify their immigrating here because they're just moving to land that was theirs first, can't say that they're 100% wrong). But humans are stupid and ignorant and judgmental and afraid and so we take it out on people who are different from us.

I am Anti-Illegal,, I don't hate the Mexicans, but i am racist against the Mexicans who are racist against the united states and what it stands for...But the only Ilegal Immigrants who are complaining about the rights they don't have or have are the illegal Mexicans..I don't hear a Illegal Chinese man say i want my rights and i want to wave a Chinese flag I don't see a German man say you better learn my language because I'm not learning yours..How many illegal Germans or Chinese men or Iran men do you see doing construction..working fast food..or cleaning a Port-john..or picking veggies...i don't know about you but i don't see none,,The Illegal Mexicans are Illegal and they don't care to let the whole North American know..the other illegal minorities don't want no one to know so there for they don't cause any trouble like the Mexicans do,,,i don't want no illegals here..

this commit makes me upset. not angry. you see what i have a problem with is that born US American speak English. why should we who was born here have to or are forced to learn for job sake, the Spanish language. they should learn English to work in the USA, not for us to learn Spanish to understand them in the work place. they came here. if we went to their country then we should learn English. being a military brat i had to learn the language of the country i went to. why don't they do the same.

It has to do with which minority is closest to the hater.
In New York, its the dang Puerto Ricans
In California, its those dang Mexicans
In Florida, its those dang Cubans...
but becuase Mexicans are the largest group and all over the US, they are the most noticible and therefore get a lot of the heat.
What funny is that when white Mexicans come to the US, they are never treated poorly, even when they speak and show how Mexican they are.

the hispanics in this country are just trying to do what we all want to do, support their families. i dont think anyone can have a very subjective opinion unless they have gone to mexico or central america, i am not talking about a resort or tiajuana either. to go to one of their villages where there are less than 1000 people and see the dirt and garbage on the streets, to see the outhouses,1 community telephone, no post office and no way close to send or recieve mail. they risk everythin, even their lives to go to a better place to save up the money to get others in their family here legally with permision, often times their own children who the havent seen in years and sometimes never at all.
Put yourself in their possition, what would you do?

They Show COMPLETE disrespect for our Nation. Marching in America's Streets waving MEXICAN Flags and DEMANDING rights there Not entitled to. They Break our laws by entering here ILLEGALLY. They run up Hospital Bills and simply Walk away. The List goes On and On.

Good question. When I first started using Answers, the immigration section was filled with people wanting answers about the immigration process (into the US and other countries), now it's just filled with a bunch of name calling and insults coming from both sides.

I'm Hispanic, Latino, Not Mexican as so many people call us, I'm anti illegal, but I also know that not all illegals are Hispanics or Mexicans, people are plain rude and racists.

i hate illegal mexicans, i am fine with legal mexicans who work hard and learn english, but there are also a number of legal mexicans who doesnt want to learn english, waves the mexican flag and demand rights for their illegal relatives. dont get me wrong i have mexican friends and i love them to death and they feel ashamed of what their fellow mexicans are doing!
