I'm a 19 year old female and I seriously think there's gotta be something wrong with me. For unknown reasons I've always been attracted to older men and by "older" I don't mean just 2 or 3 years I'm talking wayy wayyyy older like 10 years or more. The problem is they just keep getting older! When I was 13 I had a crush on this 28 year old guy. Then when I was around 15-17 I usually went for 30 something guys and now that I'm 19 I'm attracted to a 45 year old guy. My friends think it's gross but I find him sexy. What's wrong with me?
It's not that I'm not attracted to men my age, I mean I am sometimes but when it comes to dating I just don't want to date them. Why am I like this? I know that it's not about me trying to find a father figure because I have a great relationship with my father. Is this normal? Or am I a sick person?

You might want to consider therapy. You could be unknowingly trying to "recreate" your father in your attempts at relationships.
or there may be NOTHING wrong with you at all!!

I'm a 39 yr old guy so its all good news to me.
But seriously, maybe you just find it easier to talk to people who are older as they are often less challengng and less threatening than dealing with people in your peer group. I would steer away if you can from people who are more than a few years older than yourself. Enjoy your youth and the youth of those your age. No decent person who is more than say 5yrs older than you would go out with you as they would be effectively robbing you of your youth and all the great things that you will enjoy over the next 10 yrs or so of your life. Your 20's are in my opinion the best years, so look forward to them and don't get caught up with someone who has already had their 'turn' at being young. Get out there and try to have fun with the freedom that youth provides.

It is because of your great relationship with your father that you are always trying to hunt and only accept someone quite similar to him. Cos you are finding no security with someone much younger than your dad. He is the one that probably putting very much effort to take care of you since young as compare to other member of your family --- right ?
Try opening up to accept someone of your same age. There is no wrong about going with someone much older. But think about the "thereafter" situation when they are getting older faster and die earlier. Then you will be alone. At the same time, with big age difference, usually they will not share the same liking of things, habits, etc with you. You will notice it as you stay longer with them. They are of difference interest groups compare to your age group. So a bare liking is not sufficient to have a good long relationship.
I advice you go for phychiatrist who may help you cos it is very much of a impression issue.

I think this is completely normal. You don't have any problems or anything like that. In fact there are sometimes when I can agree with you when it comes to OLD guys being attractive. As far as your friends... if its not thier thing than I would try to avoid mentioning it to them. It might make waves even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Good Luck!!! Have meet many ladies that prefer older men. They love the experience and maturity. They also like the security that comes from being with a man that knows what he enjoys in life.

Younger women (and even into the older years, but not as much) often like older men because they can provide better for them, protect them, and care for them. They have more experience. It seems you're just expressing that slightly more than others. It should diminish as you get older...but i don't have any advice i could give you other than an explanation. sorry.

I don't think there is anything wrong with you, I find them sexy too, I got married when I was 19 to a 35 year old.

I agree with the last answer. You are probably quite mature for your age and prefer men to boys. Someone who is established and not just starting out. good luck. Don't give up on the younger ones though. You may find one who is mature enough to be someone you would enjoy being with also.

Don't beat yourself up over it, you are perfectly normal. Unfortunately for you, dating someone much older than yourself is not sociably acceptable, for whatever reason, so you will have to learn to ignore your narrow minded "friends".
