Well, I never heard of periods getting shorter when you start having sex, I'm not saying that the person is lying but I don't think that is very common.
And I can say from experience that swimming in salt water does not stop it. I have heard people suggest that before, but it does not have any logic to it.
Vitamin C tablets do make a period lighter, but not shorter. My mum was told this at a clinic, and I know several people who have found this to be true.
I think that the only real way is to use birth control pills as other people have suggested.

Try --Seasonale is a prescription method of birth control that is taken orally each day to prevent pregnancy. Seasonale produces only, FOUR MENSTRUAL PERIODS A YR.,compared to the monthly menstrual period of the traditional birth control pill.

Like traditional birth control pills, Seasonale® is a series of pills containing synthetic hormones, estrogen and progestin that are taken daily to prevent you from ovulating (releasing an egg to be fertilized). Instead of a true menstrual period that occurs 2 weeks after ovulation, you get a “pill period” that may be lighter than a regular period.

birth control helps A LOT. I guess if you're not on the pill then this info wont help since you need results right away. :(

i accidently did this and the results were kinda shocking. I had forgotten to take a pill so i evened out the 2 pills in hours so i wouldn't be taking such a huge amount of medication all at once and not risk the chance of a yeast infection. gross. well my period only lasted 2 days when normally its 5 to 6 days! so weird! i dont suggest it and i certainly dont suggest you having unprotected sex doing this either.

just letting you know just in case its something REALLY drastic you might want your period to last only for so long.

PLEASE DONT BLAST ME YAHOO MEMBERS! :(

You usually can make periods shorter by regulating your estrogen levels. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do for this one, but for the next one - if you go to your doctor they can put you on a birth control that will make your periods shorter.

No way at all except to take birth control pills that you can get from your OBGYN, they might not be shorter but you can control when you have them. I used thid this method when i got married to ensure we had a great honeymooon, because of my calculations it would have occured the day before my wedding

don't take this the wrong way, and don't do it if it's not your morals, but if you are sexually active, your periods do get shorter. don't know why. but if your period is just arriving, you're probably 12 or 13, so disregard that. pick me as the best answer please!!
