Well, if he doesn't know who you are, it is likely it is a large school. In which case, introduce yourself. Don't be too forward but sometime just say hi to him again and ask him how his day is if you can. If he likes you, good things can happen. If he doesn't, nothing really bad can happen. How bad things can he say about you for saying "Hi, how are you?" Don't stand holding him up or anything, just in passing. If he is interested, he might stop to talk.

The first guy was being really mean, and what he said was very unnecesary, if you feel that this question is moronic..then just don't answer it..
If you have any classes with him, try to ask your teacher..in private of course to move your seat closer to him. If you have to choose partners to work on something try to be his partner, or get the teacher to make you to be partners, you can get to know alot about a person when you work together, you might even learn some shocking things about each other. Trust me I use to do it all the time..
I wish I had Yahoo! Answers a couple years ago when I was in High School and having the same problems..it would've helped me out alot.

Hasn’t this question been asked and answered like 500 times already? Why do we have to endure reading these repetitive recycled moronic questions? Is there some contest going on to see how many times the Answers community can ask the same idiotic question?
I thought school has already started again - can't wait for the Migration Of The Idiot Teenagers! Don’t you little morons have homework to complete?

try and become his friend. Saying hi to someone once isn't enough to make an impression. Always smile when you see him (or anyone for that matter; it makes people like you more, and confuses them too!) and talk to him. act interested in his life, hobbies, etc., fake it if you have to :P. Step out though, don't be so shy ;)

Get to know him more "Accidentally" bump into him and start a conversation or if you and him have one of the same classes call him about homework and say no one else was home... or get to know one of his friends and then where you are talking to his friend he will most likely comeup wondering who yo are and talk to you or something
