Art is the same word... such as i like that art... would be ...

j'aime cet art

or the art - l'art. The apostrophe is between the le and art because of the two vowels. they take out the "e" vowel and apostrophe it to make the word shorter and also to make the appearance and sound better. Much like the Spanish with De El . De + El = Del.

it "atr" just pronounced with a french "r".ah-rrrrr (the "t" is pretty much silent)
