I keep reading where everyone act like everyone in the world have always known about Islam. I myself have only just heard of it in the last maybe 2 years and only for the bad it has done. I have yet to see the good parts. So how long have you known of the existents of Islam? I guess I have heard one thing good but it was not Islam, it was Hezbollah giving money away to gain followers acting like it was for the people of Lebanon to rebuild on. When really a payment for services.

Answer any part of my statement but really all I wanted to find out was how long have the US public known of Islam and maybe other parts of the world know of the religion?

I knew about 9-11 and knew it was Muslims who did it. But what I did not know was it was their religion that caused them to do such a thing.

Someone ask my age. I am 48 years old. I do not believe in a god and I am not looking for one. More of the other way around and would like to see religion done away with in the world for all the damage it has done. It is a very wicked thing and has no place in existents. But that is just me. And again all I was wanting to know is how long has it been known to the general public? That is all.

If you wish to believe in what ever you like that is up to you. If you want to waste your own time and money and your life serving false gods that is your business as well.

You teaching it is everyones business and I have the right to try to stop people from being scammed.

Where have you been? I have known about Islam all my life. Have you ever heard of Muhammad Ali, you know the boxer he is Muslim. Only 2 years, are you 2 years old. or you don't have a TV, and never heard of 9/11, the war in Iraq etc. I am not one of them, but there are many. Now you know.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
Jim b, you mentioned that you only heard about it in the last maybe 2 years and only for the bad it has done. That was in your question. Respectfully, you seem to have rushed in your question, and misspoke. so to speak!

well, it sounds really weird that you only heard of Islam only in the last 2 years. I am personally a Muslim so I have known of it all my life. Oh and about the bad parts....if your opinion is based on the actions of some Muslims that you see on the media (which by the way intentionally portrays the bad examples) then my advice to you is if you wanna know about the religion then study Islam don't study the Muslims because not everybody that claims he or she is a Muslim and is doing something in the name of the religion is practicing Islam.

I've known about Islam for about 25 years or so. Having lived in a Muslim country for a year and a half, I know what it's like first hand.

Each Muslim country is different and they interpret the Qur'an differently, even though they say they don't.

Personally, since I was a child. As a country, the first significant contact that the US had with Islam was in quelling the pirates in the Barbary states, early in the 19th century. I spent five years in Saudi Arabia, and used the opportunity to examine Islam in some detail. It has some serious flaws, including errors in the Qur'an, so I never seriously considered adopting it.

Islam came about 4 or 5 hundred years after Christianity. Like every new relgion of that time, its followers tried to forcefully convert people to their beliefs. Unfortunately, a few people who misinterpret the Koran believe that this is their duty to try and convert everyone and that they are right to kill anyone who does not convert as it is a threat to Islam.

Couldn't say exactly, but long before 9/11. Probably since sometime in gradeschool. I can't remember any particular time when I first heard of it.
