A promise ring is a promise to stay together and work through any problems you may have. A purity ring is the promise between two partners not to have sex before marriage. Hope it helped!

From what I understand, a promise ring is like a pre-engagement ring, and has a colored stone. Sounds silly but it indicates a committed relationship, that is sexually exclusive. The ring may be turned into an engagement ring by switching out the colored stone with a diamond. The loose stone is put into some other piece of jewelry.
A purity ring is a ring that someone wears to indicate they are a virgin or a born again virgin and will remain that way until they get married. The ring is usually given to the spouse on the day of the wedding as a gift.
As I don't think pre-marital sex is wrong, I see no point for a purity ring, but I do understand that it is a pretty big deal in some religions.

I don't think that they are the same thing. A promise ring is given to you from a guy whom is promising an engagement sometime in the future. A purity ring (I think) would be given from their parents to their child noting that they are pure in every aspect of your Christian Life.
However, if a gentleman gives you a purity ring that is his promise to you that he will be faithful & if you accept this ring then you are making the same promise that he is doing.

I do not believe they are the same. I think you get to have sex with the promise ring, whereas the purity ring involves a vow to wait until marriage.
A promise ring is a "placeholder" for an engagement ring to come later.
Some people wear a claddagh ring with the heart turned toward you to indicate they are "taken".

a promise ring is usually between couples, promising to be together, almost like a pre-engagement engagement ring
i suppose it may be considered with virginity too, but either way you probably would just wear it until you were married
