It takes a while to get all of the male hormones out of a cats system, about a month. And depending on how old the cat is, if he was an older cat when he was neutered, soetimes it is just a habit that they don't break. But with luck,, and if he is a younger cat, this behavior will stop in a week or two.

It takes a month and sometimes longer for the testosterone to get out of the system and level off after neutering. Also many cats, male & female, intact as well as altered, will mount other cats. It has nothing to do with sexual issues but rather with domination.

My cat has been fixed for over a year and still tries to get it on with my other cat. Some cats retain this behavior even after neutering. I wouldnt worry too much about it

That is so funny!!! I don't know why they do that. My Mom's cat is 16 and still does it once in a while. And of course is fixed. But my 2 boy cats have NEVER done that. Weird!!

I have a 7year old, housecat, he's been "fixed" since he was a kitten, he has a stuffed animal toy which is a cat & he humps it daily, hes very protective of his kitty, & carries it around the house, & licks it etc, He treats it like its a live kitty, & gets very jittery if any humans touch it.

It can take up to a month after neutering before the testosterone completely leaves his system.
