wow that's a valid observation; but as society grew there were certain taboos and prohibitions that society believed were necessary to protect it.
Incest is heavily laden with taboos because of the threat to the family structure and, there is some danger of mutations
occuring. Apparently experience taught them that it was just too risky, though in some older, patriarchrial groups it was common enough. Women and children were (are still in some societies)treated as chattel and the head of the house could do what he wanted. In some groups where this is still the case, it seems that incest is higher, also in alcoholic families, and families with little outside contact to the
world. Alas, the U S is number one in incest, right along with abortion, teen pregnacies, child abuse and molestation, sexual assaults, suicide, murder by gun, and
incarceration. Makes one wonder where we would be if we weren't a Christian society.

Adam and Eve had so many children, probably all different in some way from the other, and they had practically perfect bodies, with lots of genes to draw from. With only two of them, the brothers and sisters had to marry and produce, I don't think with such a strong gene line that there was much chance of any mutants or brain damage with their children. The law was not made then, and not until centuries after Noah did the law come into being. By then, there were so many people on the Earth that there was no need for in-family marrying. The law came about so that the people of God would be distinguished from the other nations around them. If you have law, then you have order, and your society is better off for it. There was a need for God's people to be separate from the other nations. They were still doing human sacrifices, rape, murder, incest, stealing, raiding and other detestable things that God wanted to protect His people from doing or being the victim of.

Its a valid question if you are just starting to question the Bible. There are tons of things that make no logical sense and are nasty in there. Lot was one of God's favored people and he had sex with his daughters and got them pregnant. Yet Christians say that we can't have a moral society without Bible based law. The laws against incest come from what we know about science, incest results in negative mutations, deformed, unhealthy children. That is why it is against the law.

Cain and Abel married demons.
Born from Adams first wife lilith.
I'll try to find the website where I read that.
Of course the Chistains just ignore that part about lilith because it was left out of their bible.

Evolution. Fish became reptiles and mammals and from there it went to apes and from apes it went to neanderthals all the way to humans. Evolution. It is a bit of a catch-22 that the Bible never says where Cain and Abel's wives came from. But you know, Creationism/ID Theory is just another way of shoving religion at people. =/

Let's not forget that little flood incident, as well. They don't want to be related to animals but they're cool with being the product of rampant incest. Twice. I just don't get it.

it is not wrong, but a social need according to the times. so marraiages are prohibited among them. it so happens knowingly or unknowingly in the closed families with a strong desire for sex among them.however, it is prohibited by social norms only.

in the old test there are a lot of "he begat this one begat that one and begat the other"....which is another way of saying "gave birth to / born". Most lineages begin there, but remember: God made Adam (not from woman/man) and Eve (again, not from woman/man) so chances are, he could do it again along with the "begats" :-) and she scores......come on...gimme the 10
