Because their squeaky-clean, scrubbed and polished followers who have more money than sense would rather give it to such people than to an "unkempt Jew". I don't think these Idiots would know Jesus if they fell over Him, but I'm certain they'd be looking for someone in a three-piece pin-stripe suit called Jim- Bob.

Um, I don't think Jesus was unkempt. Some Gospel stories talk about washing of feet and other body parts. So, maybe he was just a bearded Jew?

Who says He was unkempt? Judas had to point Him out to the Roman soldiers because He must have looked like everyone else in the crowd!

Who says he was 'unkempt'? He was quite fashionable for his time and place. That robe, for instance, was 'one piece'.
But you're right. American Christian leaders are too much interested in appearances and too little in substance. So do you wear a suit and tie or ripped jeans to church? And did those jeans cost you a bankroll to buy them that way?

were you there? How do you know what he looked like?
Why do you judge others by so called christian leaders? who proclaimed them leaders? themselves? they do not represent me!
Christians are down to earth people... even in the bible there was pharisees who WANTED to be seen and known for their money and works... real Christians don't do that they are meek and humble and NOT perfect.
so don't lump all Christians in one category... all are different. not all are high and mighty do gooders and dress like Liberace!
And there's nothing wrong with a little bling... but i think the money could be put to better use.

Believe it or not our society believes that appearance is as important as knowledge. If you are trying to sell something, which most Christian leaders are trying to do, then they have to sell themselves first. Selling yourself means looking good. If someone likes the way you present yourself, more then likely they will hear you out.

jesus was not unkempt.... i am sure he was neat and clean....and so are the ministers you refer to... there is nothing wrong with trying to look presentable ...if the ministers looked like slobs , then you would have some other sarcastic remark to make
