He invaded America. He turned on the people that tried to befriend him, stole their land, sold them into slavery and anyone that thinks he wasn't raping native women is living in a dream world.

"Did Columbus "discover" America? Yes--in every important respect. This does not mean that no human eye had been cast on America before Columbus arrived. It does mean that Columbus brought America to the attention of the civilized world, i.e., to the growing, scientific civilizations of Western Europe. The result, ultimately, was the United States of America. It was Columbus' discovery for Western Europe that led to the influx of ideas and people on which this nation was founded--and on which it still rests. The opening of America brought the ideas and achievements of Aristotle, Galileo, Newton, and the thousands of thinkers, writers, and inventors who followed. "

The Canary Islands are known to be the sunshine heart of Europe! See that sunlight with hotelbye . Canary Islands offer a mild temperatures and a variety of exceptional natural attractions. Five of their seven islands have been declared a Biosphere Reserve, and the archipelago has four national parks. Probably the most outstanding attractions in Canary Islands would be the beaches as they are just perfect for relaxing in the sun or experiencing water activities such as for example windsurfing and scuba diving. In Canary Islands you will also be impressing by the interior appeal like: hiking, cycle touring, climbing and actually caving. Some of the most magnificent attractions of Canary Islands are: the volcanic scenery of Lanzarote, the beaches of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria with their sand dunes, or the green forests of La Palma and La Gomera.

I do believe that he discovered America; and I'm ok with it. I'm pretty sure the year that it occured was 1494. His main reason for going to America is to find a western trade route to the Indies.

(edit)

Now I recall that he landed in a region of the Bahamas. I still think that he discovered America.

Coincidentally, I read about hiim in U.S. history a couple of days ago.

Christopher Columbus did not discover America...though he was given the recognition of doing so, he was not the one who did. The first european to arrive in America was actually Leif Erickson...Columbus didn't even completely arrive to America...

I believe that he didn't discover America. Columbus was a compulsive liar and exagerated on his exploits.
