No, the upholstery is made so that the airbags come out without obstructions

If the car comes from Toyota with leathert hen everything has been built to spec. If you are buying a cloth car and the dealer is going to have a aftermaket vender add leather to the car then I would leave and NEVER RETURN TO THAT DEALER EVER.
DON"T install leather in a car that did not come that way and with Side Airbags

Is this an aftermarket upgrade, or the factory leather? If it's an aftermarket, and the airbags are in the seat, any competent shop will use the proper kit to do the upgrade. If it's factory..what's the problem??

yes and no. listen. figure out if your side airbags are mounted inthe door or A-pillar or if they are mounted in the side of your seat. if they are mounted away (Apillar or door) thenyou wont have any issues.
If they are mounted in your front seats, the YES it will severly affect the way they will deploy unless you are swapping the same seats out of another car in a different apolstry. the airbag is meant to deploy (If mounted in the seat) and be able to break the side seam in a certain impact and speed. altering this may cause this to not happen at all or something a lot worse. if they are mounted in your seat and you still want leather or upgrade, you would be better of disableing them (your mil will stay alluminated) instead of having them diploy wrong in an accident

That's a good question! You should check with the dealership. They'll consult the manufacturer for you.
