I don't think there's a quick cure. practice, practice, practice. Be sure to take deep breaths. Don't talk too fast. Remember that there's no reason to be nervous. It's just other fellow human beings who are just like you.

I'm afraid that there is no "cure." The best thing to do if your shy is to recite your discussion to yourself until you feel comfortable, with what you have to say.

If you're still uncomfortable, talk to a friend and let them know that whenever you're feeling uncomfortable or nervous you will focus on them. If you start off and pretend they're the only one in the class, and that you're simply trying to explain your point to them. When you begin to relax a bit, expand your circle to include one or two more people. Not only will this help you relax a bit, but you will come across more friendly, and you'll feel like you accomplished something. And believe me, next time won't be so frightening.

I used a book called _Dying of Embarrassment_ and psychotherapy. Basically, the book shows you how to do "exposure therapy"--you do activities that make you progressively more nervous, in conjunction with breathing, affirmations, and meditative-style psyching-yourself-up exercises. Like, say, you make eye contact with everyone you meet. Then, say, you say, "hi" to a stranger. Then, maybe strike up a conversation with a stranger. Whatever freaks you out. You keep doing what upsets you until it no longer upsets you, then you move on to harder and harder activities until finally, you've gotten over your anxiety because you realize that you've done a lot of scary things and you didn't, well, die of embarrassment. Worked for me! Oh, yeah, and the meds helped, too. Not with the thoughts, just with the physical symptoms of anxiety, like sweating, nausea, trembling, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, blushing, a tight feeling in my throat...it helps a lot to get those nasty symptoms out of the way so you can focus on the intrusive thoughts about anxiety in your mind. Good luck! It takes some work, but it does get easier (maybe not easy, but easier.)

Best advice I have because I went throught the same thing is to not look at them directly. Try focusing on things beside them or behind them. Look in their direction but not at them. If you have to, focus on their foreheads. It'll seem like you are looking right at them but of course you're not. Looking at peoples reactions are what distracts a person that's why you don't focus on them. Before you have to talk, think of something really pleasant and calming and smile while you are talking too, it'll make it more personable and people will not focus on YOU as much! practice with a few friends and see if they notice what you are doing. If they can't then you're set! good luck

Take a speech class. You just have to become acclimatized to it. They are not going to turn into vampires and bite you, they are not going to boo you or throw tomatoes at you. Most of them are just as freaked out as you are. Just speak in front of groups as often as possible. Speech class worked wonders for me. It should help you as well.

Speech class by any chance? lol You just do it, and realize that everyone has to do it, and the only one probably listening to you is the teacher.

do something stupid beforehand, that way, whatever you do next, won't be as funny, so they won't laugh as hard
