You know.. like some buddhists might find reincarnation difficult to believe... or others might worry about how cruelty is allowed to happen....
I'm not having a go at anyone here. Just trying to see what obstacles people overcome to accept their chosen doctrine.

Pangel... Keep searching. It's the questions that unite us, not those who think they have all the answers.

BlueDiamond.... Submmission need not be physical. I can see this in many faiths, and is about giving a part of yourself as a gift. How the responsibilities are shared out is not important. It's the sharing of your trust.

honestly this is a great question. when my husband told me that he wanted to attend a Pentecostal church. i have those thoughts about the ones that make a woman wear a skirt. finding out it wasn't i started going. then the concept about speaking in tongues scared me, but after a few weeks it did happen to me, but i don't put to much focus on it like others of the faith. it happens when it happens and god chooses when it happens to me. but the biggest is the fact i have to summit to my husband. i still have a problem with that. why, well because if i left every decision to him he would not take care of the household responsibilities such as what bills to pay, keeping appointments and such.plus my husband doesn't pay as much attention to his children as most men i know. most of the time i am the disciplinarian and i i am the handy-woman(LOL). he doesn't know how to use allot of tools, except maybe a hammer or screw driver and i am not kidding there.
i know these items sound silly or trivial to many, but even in religion the smallest thing can effect a life in a church or home.

I am crafting a textbook on philosophy. The most remarkable conclusion that I came to in the course of this work is that faith is evil -- in fact, it is the ultimate evil. Faith is the belief in something absent evidence, or in the face of contrary evidence. The only significant distinction between humans and other species is the ability to use logic. But faith is a rejection of logic. Hence, to have faith is the deliberate rejection of the only thing that makes one human. And what could be worse than that?

good question....
As a pagan i really do not have a doctrine.
we have some rules but they are un-written.
I have always believed in gods and magick and the like so that was not hard for me to believe.
i have been able to see the fair folk (faeries) since a very young age. so that was not hard for me to believe.
i guess that it would be that divination and prophsies work.
but they are only good in the moment, because if you change anything that you might have done before knowing about a future event than you may change the event. this makes it hard to believe in this type of Magick, but i have seen them fulfilled too many tomes to discount it.

As a buddhist, the most difficult part for me to accept was that the emotions and characteristics that make up the ego or self are completely false, and that our own characteristics are nothing but a charade that hides the truth: that we are empty inside, and that this is our natural state, but we have been conditioned to deny it by an insane society.

Forgiveness.Because I've been hurt by a lot of people who I loved. But now I know that everybody deserves forgiveness.I have learnt that forgiveness does not mean that person is right. It just makes the forgiver free from the hurt and eventual bitterness that will follow after being hurt

At first, the aspect that there's absolutely no proof of God, and none of Jesus outside the Bible. So I'm atheist now.
I am strongly inclined towards Buddhism. I do find that meditation helps me, but I don't believe in reincarnation for the same reason as above.

In my Faith it is the crust of the matter that is the most difficult to accept. The rest of it is readily consumable. I am a believer but it's not all strudel. It can be hard to digest some of it. I'm a Piegan though; so I stick with it!

i'd say there are many things which is why i don't practise it so great.
I'm a vegetarian but then that's also because i feel very strongly about eating animals- and no i don't eat egg, or fish or gelatine.
i think it's difficult for people with seperate religions to their own to assimilate- that for me is a great obstacle especially when it comes to relationships
