This is a real phobia. Fear of Moths is called Mottephobia. You can always go to a therapist but you can try and work it out your self. Using an exposure theory. Start by getting books at the library and reading up and looking at pictures of Moths. After you feel comfortable (and realize that they are not much different then a butterfly..and your not afraid of them, right?) Then start slow exposure to real months. Maybe in a science museum were they are dead. Then when you think you can handle it, close up with the real thing. Don't worry if you back slide, but just keep exposing your self until its not that big of a deal.

Maybe it is best to stay clear of moths! They are harmless but they do eat hole in clothes. So you need to be careful of them for that reason. You can consider getting moth balls they keep them away. Also consider speaking to a professional in regards to the phobia. It may seem like a joke to others but it is serious and scarey to you. Well best of luck, be careful and god bless!!

I also have this phobia like JAZ (our stories are exactly the same )and I understand u all telling us to try and get over this fear- it's not that easy to just kill it I can't sleep in the summer because I think they'll come near me I can't open my window either incase they come in and if they come in I have to call for someone to get rid of it if it touches me for some reason I have to scrub my whole body - some of you all probably have phobias too and know how hard it is it's hard just to go and pick up a book and try and get over it it's also hard to see a counselor because they can't do much for you !

Well the basic symbolism of the moth is of such: dreams, secret knowledge, vulnerability, shadows, concealment. Typically in dreams, when you dream about moths: Small worries will cause you to make rash decisions and react without thinking, also possibly making deals without thinking that will later turn against you. AND/OR uncontrollable desires towards something that will harm you AND/OR there is something within the unknown you need to discover. I hope this information helps you ~

Phobias are hard to get over. I know they are no joke. Are you still young? You may get over it easily yet if you haven't had the phobia too long.

I would not take much advice online about getting rid of phobias. It can become complicated and you don't want to do something to make it worse. If this is really effecting your life, see a mental health counselor who can help you the right away. It may be expensive, but I can't imagine that you would have to see someone very long. Insurance usually pays for this if you have insurance.

This is not a debilitating phobia.Im gonna go with Hockeygirl here and say kill it.But if you spend the rest of your life with this phobia it is ok too cause it wont have any real affect on your life in general or keep you from particapating in activities. But if you want to get over it just have a freind hold one for you and you can look at it,maybe hold it.They are very feathery and light.
