A clever question with a couple of good twists in it, and BTW I am not assuming you are referring to any particular religion, which is the unfortunate but not unsurprising tack taken by many other answerers here, who have entirely missed the point of your question and made their assumptions based upon their own beliefs -- or lack of them -- rather than on what you actually wrote! (Note: I mean 'unfortunate' from the point of view that they do not seem to be getting your point. I think you are providing support to the concept of Truth, not the opposite, and similar questions are posed in Theology courses!)
The answer is:
No, it does not. Because if the book and the god are fictitious, it means they do not actually exist, and can give no support to anything. Of course, as the statement is also non-existant it requires no support anyway, and that's the key reason why only a negative answer is possible here. You cannot argue or support a thing that does not exist and Truth, by its own definition, is an absolute, not nothing. (That is, something that does not exist has no connection to Truth because it has no connection to anything real.)

I'm glad you asked that question.
Yes, I think it does. Here's why:
We all know that people create their own reality. When a person is hateful, mean and grouchy, and they hate most people, then people treat them in hateful ways, and they have made their own feelings come true.
The opposite is also true: a happy person who does good things and is always nice to be around... they tend to make people around them happy, and they live in a happy world as a result.
A holy person who follows the scripture and believes in the goodness of their God, treats people the way their God says they should, and spends a great deal of time in prayer and devotion to their God... they create a loving atmosphere in their lives. It isn't just about getting to Heaven, it's about how to live our lives here on earth.
So what if it turns out to be fictitious? These people have created their own reality. They have surrounded themselves with loving people by loving others and doing what is right, to the best of their human ability.
That person will live and die a peaceful and happy person.
We do create our own reality.
And... if it turns out to be TRUE !! Oh my goodness, "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard what God has ready for those who love Him." -I Corinthians 2:9

My answer to your question is no. There are religions that have false prophets, false holy books and false gods. So you must be careful and not be deceived.
I'm not a religious person. Religion is man's way of trying to reach God.
Relationship is God's way of reaching us, through Jesus Christ.
I believe in the living God and His Son Jesus. Christianity isn't a religion, it's a lifestyle and relationship with the living God and His Son Jesus.
The living God loves you even when you choose not to believe. He wants a relationship with you...and He's knocking upon your hearts door. There is no religion out there that can offer you that.
May you find the grace of the living God and His Son Jesus! May your search be short and your life long.
BTW...have you ever read the Holy Bible? Well if not, I would recommend it.

Some of us believers know that the book may truly be fictitious. But one thing is for sure, it was written by men. God had nothing to do with that hate filled manuscript.

Does supporting a true statement with a quotation from a true book by a true god make it fictitious?
In other words, are you committing the logical fallacy of begging the question.

If you have not read Robert Ludlums Book. Try the one that tells story about Edgar J.Hoover's assassination. If you will see the author's detailed story about it. Then you might say it is true.

No...but it doesn't make it untrue either...take for example honor thy father and mother.... except in cases of abuse, this is indeed true despite the inability to provide a good source for the statement. everyone should use logic and thought to amke up their mind about what is right ,true , and good

Lots of missing the point in the other answers. But, remember, you are asking people who will believe anything if they are told they must rely on "faith". No logic or reasoning allowed.
So, which book did you have in mind specifically? Torah? Bible? Koran? etc. etc.
