I am having my 28th birthday party at my cousins night club. There is a dinner party portion from 8-10 for my older family members then the big all out with my friends and family my age afterwards. My mother won't attend because she says she's too old for clubs (48) but she goes to clubs with her friends when they have parties. We are not very close but I am her only child why won't she come?

I had my cousin open the club early to set up the dinner party before just for her and my other relatives her age and older. She won't even come to that.

For whatever reason, this is your mother's decision. Don't let it ruin your good time. Yes, you'll feel sad, but put it on the back burner the day of your birthday. Give yourself permission to enjoy your day without her.
You might offer to have a taxi or a relative drive your mom to and from the event, at her convenience. If she still says no, let it be. Have a good time without her. You might spend time with her in the afternoon before the party, or on a different day.
If you want a heart-to-heart talk with her, make it way before or way after the event, to save both you and her the feeling of being pressured.
Whatever happens, enjoy your birthday!

She probally feels out of place partying with people your age. Or maybe she feels like you are just inviting her to be poliete and dosent want to interfere with your partying. If you really want her there you can try inviting a couple of the friends she usually clubs with so she can be more comfortable. But if she still refuses then dont worry about it, you will still be spending some time with her and it's not because she dosent love you. She just dosent want to embarrass you.

I'd guess she's reluctant to come because she thinks you won't have fun with her there. So, lay on the charm, and don't take no for an answer. Surely she's not the only woman you know of who has to be treated like a princess sometimes!
Good luck and happy birthday!

You have a couple of choices. You could explain to her that it is really important to you that she come, and tell her you are sad that she declined, and you'd really like her to share this day with you. Or, you could make her a deal that you'd like to plan a special day with just the two of you, if she just really feels like she'd have a terrible time at the party. Good luck. I can understand why you'd be bummed, but don't let it ruin your 28th birthday. You only get one of them, ya know!

She fills she is to old for the age group you invited. She goes with her friends because they are the same age. Happy Birthday and have a blast.

I'm not sure why your mom won't come. You'll have to ask her. She may just think that you'll have a better time with your friends and that there are probably things you do around them that you don't want her to see. Don't let it ruin your birthday.

You cannot control what your mother thinks or does. Live your own life. It is OK to enjoy yourself even if she doesn't come to the club.

She wants you to have a good time with your friends, that's all. I'm sure she didn't mean anything bad by it, especially if you are her only child.
