Corporal punishment's now illegal in all schools in the UK, whether state schools or private. In the US over 20 states still permit it, subject to parental consent. Most of them, like Texas and Alabama, are in the South.

Not sure that there is NO case where a couple whacks with a wooden paddle aren't appropriate but I know corporal punishment was available to the administration in my school at least through 1993 (last time I heard of a paddling while I was in school)

I think in some private schools, But I'm sure they're only allowed to 'discipline' the kids to a certain degree. I thought it was gone too, or happend in only other countries. Thats soo wrong, what kind of person are those kids gonna grow into?

I know that in korea they do it. and i am pretty sure that there are some small schools in tennessee that still spank the kids, but parents can write a note saying that they dont want their kids to be spanked.

I know when I went to elementary school in North Carolina (about 10 years ago...) they still spanked students with wooden paddles with holes in them.... but thats the only place I have known of doing it... I don't know if they still do or not though.

I live in Canada and they still strap kids here as well. If you send in a letter though saying that in no way was the child to be strapped then they can't.

Tennesee has it, at least in my county. I had to sign a form saying whether or not I would allow them to do "corporal punishment" if necessary.

any federally funded school does not allow corpral punishment. It is probably a religious/private school that allows it, and I am sure they have to have the parents consent.
