Can a young man (24 almost 25) in his first serious relationship not know how to love, give love, and be loved?

if he did not feel or receive love from his childhood then yes he would not have the learned skills needed for an adult relationship.
he may also be suffering from a disassociative personality disorder, perhaps a therapist may be able to assist in diagnosis.

If he doesn't know by now, I don't think he will learn. If his personality or childhood was so bad that he doesn't know how to love, I would bet that he has some kind of irreparable damage.
Hate to say it, but maybe he just doesn't love YOU.

No. Nobody knows how to love... it comes from the inside. if there is compatibility yhere is a lot of "knowledge" too.
