As far as I can tell in my country, England, science has won both the battle and the war, with newspapers basically calling a belief in God irrational! Who is going to win, I don't advocate competition, but according to Darwin, it's survival of the fittest, so who is winning?

You seem to be implying that the two concepts are at odds with one another.
It never ceases to bemuse me how so called scientists and how so called religious men.Can never see the plainly obvious with regards to our universe.
Clearly even the most blind religious person can see our world and our universe evolving all around them.
Likewise even the most bigoted scientist can not fail to see the hand of some greater being in everything we experience.
Indeed anyone who understands the basics of modern physics
must except Gods existence, our universe virtually cannot exist without a creator factored in to explain it.
The truly bizarre aspect of all of this is that the day is, in all probability fast approaching when modern particle physics is actually able to prove the existence of God, once and for all.
I imagine on that day there will be some highly embarrassed people from both the scientific and religious community's.

According to this question, most answers are from the god corner - but maybe they have something to prove whilst science people are resting on their laurels. Plus the term god botherers should be extended to "everyone botherers"! It is true you don't get science professers going to church people homes trying to spread anthropology or paelentology - although I would pay good money to see that, especially if it was at just the time they want to watch something on TV!
Fact is science can be proved, show me a burning bush, a vision, writing on the wall and maybe I will change my view. Until such a time god proves existance then science with all the evidence will win out.

Darwin was correct.

Now, seriously, science is winning with hard evidence. It is also proving and disproving the writings of many ancient texts.

As far as the government goes, look at History...one of the very first things done during the formation of the USSR was the eradication and ILLegalization of "Religion". This was done in order to control the populace. The politicos of the time considered Religion to be a threat to their Totalitarian Rule.

BTW: There IS a difference between "Religion" and "Faith"... Look it up ;)

Well I think Science.

If you consider all of the different Gods people have worshipped over the years from all walks of life. Is it God telling people what to do, including terrorism? I think not. It is just that people get so wound up in believing in something that thier faith ends up all the reason they need. There has been sun gods, rain gods etc etc, so why is any God different to another. Because it is what people believe at the time!

Science 1 - God nil

LOL, there is no competition between God and Science. The competition is between arrogant theologians who think they know it all, and big headed scientists who are sure they do. Between those two groups, there's not much to choose, is there?

Arrogant theologians think they know better than God, and basically seem to want to send everyone to their idea of "hell"...except themselves, of course. They'll try to tell you that "finding Jesus" is the end of the quest...when actually, it is only the beginning!
Big headed scientists seem to think they've found all the answers, when we haven't even begun to find the questions yet. New discoveries are being made every day...how can we possibly know that tomorrow, someone won't make a new discovery that will invalidate everything we think we "know" today?
Doesn't matter which side wins, we all lose!!

God has no problems with Science. After all, He invented it.

Science is created by God. God makes anything and knows everything. I said makes cause he makes us even move or grow and all the creatures changes are by his hand. This means that he knows everything about any creature of his. So he knows all knowledge. And he knows Science! So according to the weaknesses of a creature in front of its creator, Science is down. In addition, till before the judgment day we only discover 72 sciences of the world. and the last one will be discovered in that day.

My viewpoint: God is someone I believe in. There is no science exept psychology that can explain this. Another question is religion because it can be explained and it must be explained. As all the rest of things that church does. Science wants to do this but church (Note: Church, not God) tries to show it as something horrible. I dont think that this problem will be solved in this century. It will not be untill everyone will understand that we must believe in God but not in church. And then we will be ready to see the facts... only facts...

By these answers - God is winning - but, rational minds and science always win in the end. Theory and thought just doesn't cut it in the real world.
