okay umm we've talked a lot before but some days we don't hardly talk at all but small little comments like "ugh i can't get my lock open" or "here i got this!" and a little laugh or something. idk i don't think he likes me like that, but i do believe he likes me somewhat as an aquantiace perhaps and considering i asked him out a year ago without talking to him before, thats really good for me.

so if he talks to me almost every day, but seems shy and awkward, how should i get him to feel more at ease? how do i talk to him when its all quiet and we can talk... how do i start?

any advice would be appreciated.

Just start talking to him and take whatever feedback or answers he gives as good enough for now.

Sample:

You: Have you seen Pirates 2 yet?

Him: -ummm- heh, yeah.

You: I just loved the (talk about the movie for a few moments, asking him 'yes/no' or 'short answer' questions periodicially. Keep it short and happy)

You: Ooops, gotta go. Bye!

Basically- teach him how to respond to you and other girls by giving him a safe place to be. let him just listen and make minimal contributions at first. Don't ask for big opinions or look for deep sharing or opening his soul... just let him grunt and treat the noises like interesting tidbits.

Example-
You: (asking some question)
Him: uh... grunt?
You: Yeah, I can see that. Interesting... how about (fill in the blank)?

Give him a chance to get over the fact that someone is talking to him (especially a GIRL), AND seems to be listening to him. Take it slow. Offer him some gum or something to get him to say 'thanks', etc.

Once you get the hang of this, you ought to be able to gage where to go next- touching his arm or asking him to join you for something safe or whatever.

OH- ALSO see if you can communicate any better electronically. Don't work this too hard, but maybe the guy is better at the keyboard than verbally?
