the universe is soo intricate and well-made? For me this only makes it easier to believe their isn't one...it is just too well made for any 'intelligent designer' to have created, rather something BIGGER like chance and not so much in the way of humanly thoughts and characteristics as people support that god is (feeling anger, sadness, even forgiveness...). I am not trying to tell anyone what to believe but would just like to hear another opinion.

it is not personal unless you are scared your beliefs are not the right ones.

I have a theory that conforms to both Genesis and the Big Bang theory.

In the beginning, God created the singularity, and it was without form and void. Then God said, "LET THERE BE A BIG BANG", and there was a Big Bang.

I believe because I know that God is there. I have my reasons, and one of them is that this world is too intricate to happen by accident. God is above all human capabilities, and so we really have no idea about how he made this world. I cannot believe that this world is an accident--like you say "Oh I had a baby on accident." This world is more precious than that. Someone made this world, and yes I do question my beliefs. And every day I still believe in God. I respect those who don't, and I answer any questions as best I can.

Thank you so much for this intelligent, respectful question. It reminds me that there are still good people in the world, and that even if their beliefs are different, they are kind, respectful people.

Almost forgot: I believe in the evolution theory, and I am (liberal) Catholic. Just to put that out...so there's no confusion.

I don't understand the second part of your question. A person believes what they believe because of a combination of things - if their reasoning says that order comes from design, then it makes pretty good common logical sense. That can be a part of someone's belief system. The realization that humans have emotions to varying amounts would be a similar idea - it can be reasonable to assume that rocks and slime and lower creatures would have no need to evolve these emotional traits (which help us to choose to mate with not-the-fittest, and care for sick and injured young, as well as eliminate intelligent or strong of the species for various other reasons) - these are parts of the building blocks for someone's belief system. Not the whole thing of course, because belief systems, being uniquely human, are therefore diverse and not easily described or "pigeon-holed".

well actually order is inevetable in the universe. eventually things stop bouncing off each other and get into a geosynchrinous orbit (i bet thats spelled wrong)

there are 2 manin reasons why people beleive according to phychology.

1. the promise
2. the threat

1. the first is the promise of heaven. much like santa clause the people believe that if theyre good for a period of time (1 yar for santa, 1 lifetiemfor god) you wil lget a rpize at the end of the term. for the theists thats usually a heaven. another requirement is to beleif in god. so people beleivei n god and are good simply to get into heaven. remove the promise of heaven and the religion will die within a few generations.

2. the threat. people dont want to go to a place where they will be tortured and be in pain...especially if its for eternity. so peopel iwll beleive in god for the purpose of avoidign the threat. hell worls great for theists, its cares people into beleiving.

usually most people are made up of bits of 1 and 2 but ive seen people who are strictly one or the other. once you understandthe psychology behind religion you can see why its false.

yay psychology!

God(Allah) does not feel sadness as HE is the all powerful.HE feels anger in a positive way not like humans,I mean that his anger has strong causes and after just trial .Forgiveness of God indicates HIS power,as HE forgive who repents and who promises not to commit any sin again .HE gives by HIS WILL the repenter a chance to be good one

Well it is a well made place. And God is almighty. Do you think it just poofed in overnight or do you really think we came from some microorganisum living under a rock a trillion years ago. Someone who knew what they were doing did this.

How could 'chance' just happen to make so many convenient things like trees, water, sand, flowers(&all their diversities), eyebrows, rainbows.....too many lucky 'chances' I think.
