Did someone specify prior to the call to hide identity from my phone? I think I recognized the voice, dont know persons name, but If I am correct, it is a bit scarey this guy would find my number and call my house to talk to me. I am concerned, and want to know if it means his number is "unlisted" or if he typed * and some number to have his ID hidden from me.

Some people have their phones set so that caller Id won't display their number. Telemarketers usually do this to prevent return calls. You can usually set your home phone to not accept calls from private callers and sometimes you can set it so that it prompts the caller to allow the caller Id information to go through before you accept the call.

"Private Caller" means the person calling is calling from an unlisted number.

Anyone can hide their number from you when calling. My boyfriend and I had this problem, so we blocked all private callers. We own a satalite buisness, but anyone with a blocked # can dial *82 to bring their # up when calling you. So, if they really find it necessary to get hold of you they can. I would reccommend you do this. Hope this is helpful.

You can always contact your local phone company and have it where private calls or unknown calls can not get through. That the caller must identify himself.
