Did someone specify prior to the call to hide identity from my phone? I think I recognized the voice, dont know persons name, but If I am correct, it is a bit scarey this guy would find my number and call my house to talk to me. I am concerned, and want to know if it means his number is "unlisted" or if he typed * and some number to have his ID hidden from me.

Who ever called you had to manually block their phone number. Your phone company can tell you how to put a privacy block on your phone so that all callers have to let their number be available and not blocked.

Some people have their phones set so that caller Id won't display their number. Telemarketers usually do this to prevent return calls. You can usually set your home phone to not accept calls from private callers and sometimes you can set it so that it prompts the caller to allow the caller Id information to go through before you accept the call.

There are numbers to push prior to dialing a call that will make your number appear private on a caller ID. I believe it is *67, but I'm not totally sure since it is my friends that have done it and not me.

Private caller means......the peorson that called you has got a private phone number. This means he or she has told the phone company that he/ she has they do not want their phone number listed that means its private. So no matter who they call it will always say "private number". now if it says No Caller ID when someone calles that means they are only blocking their phone number from you but they are listed.

"Private Caller" means the person calling is calling from an unlisted number.

Ummm...I would call your phone company and get Privacy Manager. This program does not allow calls from private numbers. Instead it directs them to an area where they can either unblock their #, leave a message or anounce who they are. I get to decide if I even want to talk to them!

it was either a telemarketer, scam caller, or someone trying to call you, but wants to remain anonymous.

if it was a telemarketer / scammer was calling you, they'll block their phone number(s), they know that you'll either call them back, or phone the police on them.

i think that system needs to be removed, that way you'll know who's calling you.
