He (Veteran ) was missing a leg. He was from Selfridge Air Base in Michigan and I ask him what happened. He said "I was protecting freedom in the USA and an insurgent shot my leg off".....I just rolled my eyes around and walked away. Note:.....Think about that statement. Protecting freedom in the USA. Ha!! How many Iraqi people were on the planes that attacked the twin towers? Ha!! Protecting my freedom...........I had to walk away from that poor fool.

You did good.
He is in denial because if he realizes he lost his leg for oil and corporate profits, think how hard that would be for him to deal with? On the other hand, I cant blame you for at least rolling your eyes. Hard not to, when you hear nonsense spouted as if its divine truth.

So you're actually bragging that you go around trying to start argument's with people who are missing limbs and are disabled? You Sir, are a nutcase!
As always, you can tell you have added a bit to this story. I just don't think a young solider would answer your question by starting out saying "I was protecting freedom in the USA," when asked what happened to him. I have worked with these disabled vets, and they are very humble and I have never heard one of them make a statement like that. They aren't looking for anyone to pat them them on the back and feel sorry for them.
Come to think about it, what kind of idiot are you that you would even walk up to a perfect stranger who is disabled and ask them what happened? Who does that? That's something a five year old innocent child who doesn't know better would do. You are such a moron.

That is one of the most terrible stories I have ever heard. Even if you disagree with the war, you should be more respectful. That story makes me sick.

EDIT: Why does it matter how many Iraqis were on the planes on 9/11? Did he even say he was fighting in Iraq? Either way, most insurgents arent Iraqi.

Yes, you were rude. Regardless of how you feel about this particular war, this dude signed on to do whatever the Commander in Chief asks of him, he had no choice once he signed up, he can't choose which war he wants to go to. So I don't understand how its this guys fault that he signed up for an honorable and scary job, which you (or me for that matter) didnt do, and had to go to a war - and lose a friggin leg!! - that you feel is unjust. By the way, I don't agree with the war either, but I can't imagine being rude to someone for doing something that you or I didn't do.

And, just wondering, not trying to be rude myself, but why are you asking this question, do you feel guilty? Cause if so, you may have already answered your own question.

Atleast this guy got out of the military because of a sacrifice. You probably got out on some stupid sh*t. One of those wasteful military personel that they let sit around for 6 months before they get rid of them. Why even bring up the fact you have an honorable discharge or that you were even in the military? I doubt you even did anything for the country other than sign next to the x.

You were not understanding at all. The way you tell it, you were actually insulting. I notice you don't tell anyone which branch you served in, not that it really matters. As far as protecting your freedom, he was. The same as I did in the Navy. The same as my son did in the Army. You are still free to spout your drivel.

The only thing that gives me comfort is the knowledge that we protect the FREEDOM, not you in particular.

well if he didnt do what he was called upon to do as his duty they would not have bothered to have done what they did. And you may have been beaten by your husband or boy friend just because they feel like it or maybe you'd have to wear a cover over your face while you go out shopping or what ever you do. I guess you dont realize what the word freedom even means or what we have in our country. You looked at a man who gave a part of himself for you me and everyone else who lives here. People like you need to wake up hey. semper fie

Apparently you listen to the Liberal Media. You DO understand that the CIA told Bush Saddam had WMDs. He was protecting your freedom.

WHAT REALLY BURNS ME UP ARE IGNORANT MORONS WHO HAVE NEVER LIFTED A FINGER TO DEFEND THE VERY FREEDOM, TO SPEAK YOUR MIND WITHOUT FEAR OF PUNISHMENT, TAKE NOT A SECOND TO REFLECT ON THE MERE FACT, THAT ANOTHER HUMAN BEING IS LAYING DOWN HIS LIFE FOR YOU, WHETHER YOU BELIEVE WHAT IS BEING ACCOMPLISHED IS IN LINE WITH YOUR IGNORANT SKEWED POINT OF VIEW.

WHEN YOU HAVE WALKED A FEW STEPS IN THE SHOES OF A US SERVICEMAN AND SERVED ON THE MANY HOMELAND SECURITY BOARDS OF PERSONNEL, THEN MAYBE JUST MAYBE, YOU CAN DETERMINE WHETHER WE SHOULD BE WHEREVER WE ARE. UNTIL THEN TRY THANKING SOMEONE WHO HAS GIVEN A LIMB TO YOUR IGNORANT CAUSE.

LOL some of these people really crack me up. Like they believe that really happened. You would think by now they would realize you are such a liar. Naples has it though. She said exactly what I was thinking. No soldier is going to say any such thing.
