There aren't to many unique names left. You have to be careful, checking to see what short forms of the name may end up being. Some names I like are Brandon, Cade, Riley.

With all the wierd names out there today, I think the most unique name is something that's not.... What's wrong with Jim, Frank or Chuck? If you would feel uncomfortable if your doctor, lawyer, plumber, builder or teacher had the name you are going to straddle your kid with for around 80 years... DON'T DO IT!!!

It's pretty hard to suggest names for other people, because it's such a matter of personal opinion.

What I will suggest is that you do a search for names that come from your country of origin (or your husband's).

For instance, there are very nice names for Irish children at this site:

It even tells you how to pronounce them and what they mean.

Another suggestion is to check and see what type of personality your child will have with that name. It is fairly accurate and interesting:

My favourites have always been the foreign spellings of our common English names, like Giovanni or Ian or Juan or Shawn instead of plain John.

I love these for little boys:-
Phoenix, Jye, Reagan, Hunter... but I also love the traditional names like Josh, Ben, Jack - they're common but so manly..
