I secretly LOVE boxing, but I don't let anyone know, except for a few close friends that I used to go to school with, and my aunt's brother (not my dad). My aunt's brother won't buy me boxing gloves, even if I give him the money, and I can't let my family know that I like to box. It would ruin my image. However, when we go to Costco, right across from it is a Sports Authority where I often go when my parents are checking out to look at and feel and try on the boxing gloves. I don't want to wait for my driver's licensce. I had one idea, but it was risky. I thought that I could go there and buy the gloves and maybe something else, wrap them well in plastic bags, and say it is a Christmas present. Should I try this? Or do you have another idea?

why are you being so secretive?
If you like boxing and want to try it, go for it. Buy the gloves, take some lessons, have a blast doing it.
I am sure that you will find out that your family will support you if it's something you are really interested in.

I don't know about your state, but I know here in the lovely state of BLANK it's know where near like buying a hand gun. You have to wait three days, I might not even be pissed anymore! You do have a point though, the government is watching everything. You must hide it from BIG BROTHER because you would be shunned in this country if people knew you like to box. It's not like boxers are supposed to be tough or anything. Worried about what people would say, they might beat me up, sticks and stones but words really hurt. Who cares what people think, stay in shape, learn to trow down, live it up.

JM is right 18 oz will prevent you from getting really hurt. However i think you should also get a 8oz pair too, i find mitts to be more fun when you hit them with the smaller gloves. Dont forget to wrap them hands

Just let everyone know you like to box. There is nothing wrong with that. That would make things easy for you.

Boxing isn't bad. Try telling your family you want to cage fight!
They got over it when I told them, I'm sure your family will get over it too.
