Our agent once told us that the cheapest car to insure is the Saturn, because they have a steel frame.
Our mechanic told us, though.. that Saturns are expensive to have work done, because they use all different parts in them. For instance, a 98 could have parts from a 96, etc. So it's hard to get the right part, and that takes extra mechanic hours sometimes.
Another thing our agent said is that a V6 is cheaper to insure than a 4-cylinder or a V8. Hope that helps.

I can't really tell you what kind of car, but I do know not to get a sports car. Make sure it has four doors, air bags and I think anti-lock brakes makes a difference also. Basically if he is ashamed to drive it, you are okay. I know State Farm will come down on insurance if he has good grades. I don't know about all insurance companies, but what I have just told you was told to me by State Farm. We also got a cut on price by taking out a life insurance policy on our daughter. It was not major, but what the insurance cost us is what the cut saved us. Two birds with one stone.

Buick's, and any other model that young people do not typically drive. Certain models and makes automatically have higher insurance because they are driven by so many inexperienced or accident prone drivers. Watch the color too. More reflective paints, like silver are cheaper because they are more easily seen by other drivers.
