Isolationism didn't work for China, Japan, or the Middle East. The closing of borders only breeds stagnation and laziness in innovation. Those immigrants and migrant workers working the menial jobs you feel should belong to citizens are typically working the jobs that we do not want to do ourselves, or they're doing it in such a cost efficient manner as to challenge our own laziness and ineptitude of a cake and eat it too society. The big party we had of commercial and economic success from doing the same old thing isn't working, and it's up to us to find new ways of creating success without falling into the bitching and moaning circle of regret and whine.

You think the dog is crapping in your yard, perhaps you should consider using the crap as fertilizer in creating a new garden.

That's not to say I don't believe immigrants shouldn't pay their fair share of taxes.

Well Americans spend more money on their dogs than any other country on the planet...most dogs here live better than humans in 3rd world countries...and I'm not speaking metaphorically.

To continue with your metaphor, I aways ask the owner if I can give the dog a treat. Same with children....I ask the parents.

im guessing that since this question is in Immigration you're referring to letting every immigrant into whatever country you're in...and that now it seems as if our government is the one taking care of people from another government? and that the 'dog' should go back to your 'neighbour' because it actually belongs there? am i on the right track?

Not a good metaphor. No one I know is feeding illegal immigrants...they do that themselves. Most likely they wouldnt like your bland food anyway.
