With all of this talk about childhood obesity, do you see in ten years there being an epidimic of eating disorders in young adults? I mean the media is already pushing "skinny" and now our doctors are too. I have been to the park with my children at least once a week all summer and I can count the number of kids I thought needed to make a change on 1 hand. Are other people seeing the same thing in their area or is my town just unusually skinny?

I agree with you. As always, the media is a gateway for negative trends. Cause that's what it is. Eating disorder stats are climbing in younger kids. We as parents really need to enfore acceptance and enfore healthy eating habits.... The world today is scary, especially for tween and teens.... that's when it begins!!!

It may be just your town.
Here in Pittsburgh and also Central Ohio
People in General are VERY Large.
Eating disorders go hand in hand with a deeper problem
of just wanting to be thin. It is a Mental Problem.
Computers and video games are in use as children get older. They get less active.

Compulsive eating is a disorder, too. And it is very similiar to bulimia .The obese are obviously not purging. The big problem is sugar and processed foods. We are addicted to them and they are not healthy. Until chain restaurants and food processor start making healthier products, I'm afraid that it will continue. While we do have choices, I feel that if you are prepairing the meals of millions of people, you have the obligation not to kill them.

There already is beginning to be an epidemic with eating disorders in young kids. Little kids, like age 7, are already becoming anorexic.

i agree with you it seems that ervery one has to live by a code, the code is be skiny or you wont be accepted by society. that sucks, cuz all that does is put pressure on our young folks.so if your not skiny no one will like u . i say f*ck society and be any weight you feel happy.
