Because God made the entire world, God loves everything in it. the Bible describes God in the following way "God is love".
So, because not everyone loves God, some people move away from God or choose to disbelieve. God does not love them any less, according to what the Bible says, however, those who live by God's guidelines and wisdom are closer to God and its that that makes them Holy. God comes to live in your heart if you choose for Him to do so, and ask HIm. So wherever God is, is Holy. A church for example, is Holy because it serves the purpose of helping people to grow closer to God and understand His divine purpose in our lives. A disco for example, is not deemed holy because the purpose of it is to lure people into temptation.dont get me wrong, i used to frequent night clubs when i was slightly younger cause its fun however, the temptation to sin is greater, so, its not considered a holy place. in church for instance, we are called on to consider people who are suffering (due to war famine disease) and asked to give donations and we share skills or do volunteer work to help uplift some people who need it, one'd hardly find that happening in a disco, there the need is more to satisfy the self.

Holiness is the state of being holy, that is, set apart for the worship or service of God or gods. It is most usually ascribed to people, but can be and often is ascribed to objects, times, or places.

The concept is found in almost all religions, especially those with a degree of formal organization, so that there is scope for special people, places etc to be devoted to worship.

In non-specialist contexts, the term "holy" is used in a more general way, to refer to someone or something that is associated with a divine power, such as water used for Baptism.

There are no holy things now except christians. Under the law there were but that is all fulfilled in Christ now and it is His people that are now holy. Things and places are just that and will eventually be destroyed by God.

God loves me - that's why God created me. Does that make me holy or unholy ?? neither. God loves everything / everyone he created. Holy or unholy are categorised by people. It could be categorised based on feelings of spirituality it arouses in a person. If I have a jug of water (for some reason) reminds me of god, or makes me feel like praying to him - it is holy water, at least for me. Guess this helps.

Holy in biblical meaning means, set a part for God, or for the worship of God.
In people holiness is (almost) the same as goodness. I think sinlessness could be included.

Good question. I don't know. I would like to know though how Sunday can be considered a holy day. Why would one day be holier than another?
