Probably. Like most of religion it's wishful thinking. Heaven is a strange concept. Unless each person had an individually styled Heaven you would encounter some odd anomalies. Your grandmother would be the same age as you and you would meet both of your deceased former husbands!

many people fear what lies beyond the grave, the idea of heaven and hell encourages this fear.
so for people to communicate with dead family members gives them a peace knowing that they are not suffering eternal damnation or whatever the heck else they might be afraid of.
it's also comforting to watch someone who was in such pain now on the other side telling them that they hurt no more.

No, that doesn't define why I believe in the living God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. However, seeing family and friends when I get to Heaven is a perk.

Jesus died for my sins (and yours) and I have Faith...

Actually, I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ...what about you?
