Do people kill in the name of science? The answer is yes to a small extent. Religious people like to suggest that the nuclear bomb, or flying planes into buildings is killing by science because technology is involved, but the people are not killing in the name of science.

Certainly some observations were made in the early days when testing nuclear bombs to see the effect on humans, and some secret experiments are conducted with humans in laboratories, with the intention to kill them, but the number of people killed in the name of science is extremely small compared to those who kill in the name of God.

Why are so many people killed in the name of God and very few in the name of science, yet religious people blame their killings on science because they use technology to kill?

God gets blamed for everything!

Of course, Satan gets blamed too! Many times.

The truth is that, we - humans - are all evil by nature. We do what we 'feel' is best for us. It is never about anything else but our own selfishness.

I have to take issue with the 'number' killed in the name of science as opposed to those killed in the name of God (as they claim).

Unless you have a detailed listing to support, it would not be wise nor fair to suggest as you have. We on the outside are never told the truth. Statistics are dabbled with and altered from time to time.

Which scientist is going to tell you he only murdered 5 people during his 25 year quest to find a cure for some ailment (which he calls a disease) and which is no cure at all? He eventually concocts some oddity which gets an even odder name, gets an accomplice to put it on the market, charge the gullible public top dollar or a few for it and he goes to the bank with a big grin.

Many lives are lost/taken all the way to the bank.

It bothers me that you calmly and matter-of-factly say "some secret experiments are conducted with humans in laboratories, with the intention to kill them" as though this is kosher with you!

It is not acceptable!

As for those who use science to whitewash religious killings, again, I say, God gets blamed for everything. I get up in the morning, stump my toe against the bed, I say "Oh God, why?" It's not His fault if I jump out of bed in a rush. I don't like my neighbour because he sings his religious songs too loudly, so I blow His head off.

We are responsible for our wrongdoings. It is not God. It is not science. We are!

Science just Mame's people...giving them a slow painful death. Examples:

Polio Vaccines: In 1960, researchers discovered that the polio vaccine distributed to certain states was infected with another virus called "Simian Virus 40." SV-40 is a monkey virus that is not normally found in humans. Unknown at the time, it was present in hundreds of rhesus monkeys that were used to grow and harvest the polio vaccine. Injected into research animals, the SV-40 virus causes brain and lung cancers. Killed hundreds, gave thousands a rare painful form of the diease.

Teething Powder: Mercury used to be a common additive in teething powders and other baby products. Babies who were particularly sensitive to mercury developed Pink disease. Of those who contracted Pink disease, around one quarter died. The symptoms include anaemia, lethargy, severe light sensitivity, skin rash and loss of appetite, weight and muscle tone.

Thalidomide: Thalidomide is a drug that was originally sold during the late 1950s and 1960s as a sleeping aid and to pregnant women as an antiemetic to combat morning sickness and other symptoms. It was later (1960–61) found to be teratogenic in fetal development, most visibly as a cause of amelia or phocomelia, especially if taken during the first 25 to 50 days of pregnancy. Around 15,000 children were affected by thalidomide, of whom about 12,000 in 46 countries were born with birth defects, with only 8,000 of them surviving past the first year of life.

I could go on for hours. There are literlly millions of cases where "Science" destroyed the life of humans. Get your freaking facts straight freak.

To add a few more to the Fanmail's answer:

The 1950's scientific discovery of the decade....asbestos. Unfortunately hundreds of thousands of people developed lung disease and other ailments from handling the crap. Mesothelioma, a form of leukemia, is one of the most horrific deaths imaginable.

DTP (an older form of the new DTaP) vaccine for children caused thousands of cases of encephalitis, a usually fatal disease, but if not fatal caused severe learning disabilities and brain damage... Shall I go on?

Small Pox vaccine of the 1970's. Made thousands of children mentally ill and many died from the effects.

Because people, such as Pat Robertson, think that they have some sort of inner place with God and that they received a divine message to kill.

Diversion of responsability. The fact that they use the tools of science to kill does not excuse the motivations to kill.
