Just because you are a genius doesn't mean you are a great communicator.
It is a fact that people who have IQ's only 10 points away (up or down) from each other have difficulty communicating. If you are in Mensa, you probably have much more than 10 points spanning most of the others you are in contact with daily.
Try to improve your communication skills and patience with those less gifted than you.
Success is almost always linked with the ability to lead. Leaders are almost always communicators...and in my experience...good listeners.

That is because being "book smart" is independant of the ability to "create" money and having a strong business sense. Most millionaires in this country are entrepreneurs and or property owners. Many of them are plain meat 'n potatoes kind of guys/gals who don't even have a college degree but have good common sense and have a talent for making money.

Also, having high intelligence is also independant of having a burning desire to succeed. A few years ago, they had an article in the NY Times about a man who had the highest I.Q. in New York City - he was working as a doorman! So you see, being exceptionally smart has NOTHING to do with drive and building wealth.

Woo hoo ha ha ha!

Let me introduce you to something I call Genius Discrimination.

Do you feel like you should have been a violin prodigy at the age of nine? Or perhaps that you should have gone to work for Lockheed, making missiles, living in the desert and never saying anything about what you do for a living? Did you join Mensa because you wanted to meet people who were as quirky as you or did you do it to reap the social benefits of being a smarty-smartpants? At what point are you going to give in to your Genius frustrations and become a raving mad scientist who undertakes to speak with a weird accent and take over the world?

Are you catching my drift?

At any rate, being smart does not make you a hard worker.

Perhaps the reason you aren't rich is a lack of material wealth, including perhaps a lack of money. Belonging to Mensa gets you the privilege of hanging out with a bunch of fat lawyers.

Because highly paid jobs don't always go to the cleverest people.
Do you think that somehow it is your right to be rich because you are clever?
I don't think that there is any correlation between the two, and I don't see why there should be.
You belong to Mensa and you didn't figure that out? Wow, brainy people really do lack common sense!

You can't figure this one out, "Mensa member"? Being smart has it's place - consider that "social smarts" often gets you where you want to be in terms of wealth.

In order to get rich, you must not only be a single-minded workaholic, but you have to have more greed than the average person, and less morals and ethics, as well. Some people get rich by being visionary, but I believe they are of the more rare sort.

Haven't you ever noticed that the people in Mensa are not exactly winners?

Knowledge is the greatest wealth. Money is for those of the materialistic persuasion.

as a note: I am of the materialistic persuasion, and a member, and well for that matter; rich also.

Intelligence won't automatically bring you riches. Think about it, you have the potential to brainstorm and come up with some good ideas, I hope.
