It depends a lot on your location. In the UK there is usually a fee; for the hire of the church in the parish in which either of you are resident (or that you've got a special licence for - have to pay for that too!) It can be anything between £200 to £750. If you want flowers in the church, you may have to pay for this too. Vicars may waive their fees if they know you. Best person to ask is the woman (usually!) who mans the church office; they will be able to answer all your questions.

Clare, are you a member of the church you want to get married at? If you are most members are allowed to get married in their home church without it costing anything. You need to check with the church board or Pastor to make sure.

If you aren't a member of the church, then you need to contact the church, if they have a secretary, you could call the church's office, and ask the secretary the details of a non-member wedding at their church. Some churchs will let non-members marry, but some don't. So, give the church a call. If they don't have a phone number listed in the phonebook...Stop by church before a service and speak with the Paster or Reverend...

The costs vary...some are just a donation to the church, and then some have set prices. One church, we did a wedding at was $50, and then $75 for the reception. That was to cover the cost of the electricity and heavy clean-up, and moving the chairs and tables around. Some churchs are a lot bigger and fancier so I know one charges $500. just for the church, the bride had the reception somewhere else, because they wanted a bar and dancing.

So, do a little phone calling. I hope you are able to have the church you and groom are interested in getting married at. Have the happiest of weddings.........

God bless us all

On top of the regular cosrts (licience etc) it all depends on the church .......... the first issue, rather than the cost is finding a church that will marry you. Not all will & those that will usually request that one of you actually live in the Parish and that leading up to the wedding (and after), you will turn up to various services etc.
Cost wise (or rather donation) you are looking at between £0 - £150 for the use of the church. Obviously I am talking about your regular UK church here & not a Cathedral etc.

Depending on the church. In the UK, some churches will only allow you to marry in them if you are a member of the parish. Others will rent the venue out for set amounts of time for anything between £200 and £5,000.

Bear in mind that the vicar will charge you to conduct the service, and a bell-ringer and an organist charge too.
My brother in law is planning his wedding in Cambridgeshire, and they charged him £400, £250 and £150 respectively.

Is the bricks made of gold or something? But, being married in a church should be very expensive? You should make a short list and get one which is affordable to you. But, don't go overboard with it. It only one special day in your life. If you thinking about having a big wedding you might as well get married twice! Only kidding... Good Luck!

Depends on the church and the pastor. The one we got married in, the pastor allowed us to make a donation and just gave us an idea of how much was normally given. Some churches require rental use. You would need to inquire of the pastor most likely who can direct you to the right place.

We're getting married next Saturday and the church is charging us £900. It would be much cheaper, however, if we lived in the parish. It could be free or as little as £200 depending on the church. Organists and choirs are usually extra.

It depends on the church, find the church you would like to get married at and ask them how much they charge? Most free church's do not charge members

My church was $1,400 but they include the flowers, candles and the runner...
Another church we looked at was $500 for non-member and you had to pay for the flowers and the runner and all the candles.

So we figured about $1,000 total for any church with decorations.

I think it really depends on the area and the churches. I ask the same question on here- months ago and everyone told me FREE! They must live in the midwest because ANY church in NJ is about $500!

My church did not charge me anything at all. No charge for priest or wedding planner. Many of the church members pitched in on the day of the wedding. With all the arrangements and the food for the reception I spent $2000 for 50 people.
