"úttörö gárda" and "egészségör" [The second ö of the first and the one in the last word have long Umlauts]. It's from a medal thingey I inherited from my paternal grandfather. Could have something to do with fire?

The first word is a bit hard to translate because it is related to the old (communist) regime. In those days there was the youth organisation the pioneers, who were normal school children of 10-14 years old. Every kid had to belong to the Pioneer organisation, it's like military organisation but much more fun, I guess. So the first word pertains to the guard of these pioneers. The second is similar but it means something like the 'guard of health' or similar. I hope it helps.

The first means "Pioneer Guards" and the second means "Health Guard" or "Fitness Guard". The Pioneer Guards were basically the communist equivalent of the Boy Scouts, but mandatory and for girls, too. Nothing to do with fire.
