I thought I had a picture of it, but I can't find it. Family (somehow) doesn't recall exactly which church it was. What can I do? I wish I hadn't told them I had been baptized, because now I don't know if that is true? please help. I don't want them to think I lied.

Talk to your priest. Explain the situation to him, just as you're explaining it to us. Priests are more understanding than you might think. I don't think they'll feel that you purposely lied about your baptism; you were just confused on the point, that's all. It's okay. But you might want to get that straightened out fairly soon.

--Is Catholic--

Your parents should know if you have been baptized or not. The Catholic Church does not rebaptism people. They will do a conditional baptism if you cannot find your records or the validity is unsure.

If you were baptized Catholic, the record is held in the parish of your baptism. If you were not baptized in a Catholic parish, there might not be records. Not all Protestant groups keep permanent records of such events.

For both cases, find the time period where you would have been baptized, locate the city that you were living in during that time, and call those places of worship.

Now have you been confirmed in the Catholic Church? If you have you have been baptized and you can find the record of your baptism by also checking with the parish in which you were confirmed.

If you are just becoming Catholic and getting confirmed, if you cannot find your baptismal certificate or records from that community, then you will need to get a conditional baptism.

Above all, do not worry about it, just talk to your parish priest and he will help you through everything. This sort of stuff happens ALL the time.

Dear markie m,

The catholic church undoubtedly will not tell you this but I will because I love you (want the highest good for you). The Holy Ghost has left ALL the local congregations regardless of denomination (2 Thess 2). The principle reason for this is the same when God brought judgement on the bation of Judah in 587 B.C. The congregations have disregarded the ordinances of God and set up their own rules. For example Zechariah was a priest and Elizabeth was his wife. They had a son who was known as John the Baptist. Therefore priest should marry and have children yet the priests of the catholic church are not allowed to marry. Why do you think they are sodomizing the boys and molesting the girls? Mary, the mother of Christ, was virgin when she brought forthe the Lord Jesus. But the Bible tells us that she had other children with her husband Joseph (Mark 6:3). Therefore she is NOT ever virgin as the Catholic church teaches. There is no age of accountability as the catholic church teaches. A new born child is a sinner that needs salvation the same as a 65 year old person that has never been saved (Psalms 58:1-5). And there are so many other "laws" that they ahve invented that are not God's commandments!
If I were you, I would get away from the catholic church or any church for that matter. God's judgment is on them and He is sending them a strong delusion to believe a lie. For further info see the website below. But before that, just open the Bible and pray to the Lord for understanding and wisdom.

Figure out where your parents were living when you were born. Contact the nearest church and see if they have a copy of your Baprismal Certificate.

The church you were baptized in has a record of your Baptism.

You might also contact the diocese you were born in. They probably have a record of it also.

Good luck and do not freak out.

Forget the baptism if you don't know Jesus as your Saviour it won't do anything for you. Go find you and KJV of the Bible read John10:9-13, do what it says and then find you a church that will preach the gospel of Christ and Baptize you into their fellowship

If your family says that you had been baptized but they can't remember which church it was at, why would they lie to you? I wouldn't be incredibly concerned.

You can be rebaptized as a Catholic for several reasons.

Your 1st baptism wasn't done correcly. Or if you want it done again, you can!

They won't think you lied. If you can't figure it out with your family, then explain the situation to your church. If they get angry or weird about it, then maybe you shouldn't be worshiping there.
