First of all, let me say, that I've lost 30 lbs on this diet.(so far) It's not easy, but it's not as hard as most other diets.
You really should buy the book and read it. Because what you are asking is not a cut and dry answer. go to www.atkins.com

The first 2 weeks, you should only have a 20 carb per day intake.
Then the 3rd week, go to 25 carbs per day,
then the 4th week go to 30 carbs per day.
You keep going up 5 carbs per day each week until you stop losing weight. Once you stop losing weight, you go back down 5 carbs.
The book explains how and why your body needs to be on very little carbs.
But one of my friends is up to having 200 carbs a day. So, he's eating very sensibly. and doesn't have to restrict himself as much as he used to.
It's easy when you stay away from any snack that's in a bag or box. But staying away from these snacks is kinda hard.

the first two weeks (20 carbs) then you go up from there until you stop losing weight. Once you figure out how many carbs you can eat and still lose weight that's what you stay at.

The Adkin's diet is a dangerous diet. It causes problems health wise. You might want to consider the American Heart Association diet. It is much safer and effective.
