1 Cor 13:4-5 - Love is patient (Ps 7:11 - God is angry with the wicked every day. Ps 2:12 - Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little.), love is kind, it does not envy (Deut 4:24 - For the Lord your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.), it does not boast, it is not proud (Job 41:34 - He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.), it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered (Ps 2:12 again), it keeps no record of wrongs (Deut 5:9 - for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me). Could a xian please explain this?

What I am implying is that God is supposedly love, but doesn't act in the way that love is described. Is he above is own laws? Or something else?

Somethings you have to feel with your heart. The bible is filled with a lot of things that have nothing to do with reality. It helps keep people from seeing what is there. The bottom, top and line in the middle is how we treat each other, not what sense we can make of God. This is true of Jesus too, he doesnt matter at all, how we treat each other does, and the responsibility we take for our world instead of leaving it to the rich and poweful to destroy matters, nothing else matters.

you are deliberately picking verses out of context, and holding them against one another. Of course The Lord is angry with sin, and those who do wrong. Aren't you also? Don't pick a verse here and a verse there. Read the entire book and you will see the Greatest Love ever known. You are too busy now looking for something to fight about to pay attention, but the whole bible is about how much He loves us.

Ah yes, nothing like taking a few Old Testament verses out of context to supposedly validate whatever it is you're trying to prove. Not the work of someone who is seriously researching for Biblical subjects Sometimes God is speaking to a certain nation,to a certain person, not intended for everyone at anytime-please do a little better investigating !!!

A lot of people just think of love in the earthly sense. But God is also holy, and cannot accept sin.

When God says that he will seek the punishment to 3 to 4 generations (actually, it is first mentioned in Exo 20), he follows by saying, he will remember those who love him for generations. Look how gracious is the Love of God.

Follow on in Ezk, God also say, to those sinner man who turns from evil and repend, salvation is also for them. He also warn, if those who are righteous, he will still punished.

Allow me to explain, I love my children, very much. But when she does wrong, does I the lovely father be responsible enough to discipline? What is love if there is no discipline?

Many times in psalm, God is protray as father, not the one that is dictator, who often drunk and beat up wife and children, but as one who love, guide, protect and to discipline.

Allow me to urge, not to use the earthly eyes, limitation to view God. He is far too great to be fathom in that manner.

The books Deuteronomy,Psalms, and Job are all from the Old Testament. Corinthians is from the New Testament. Jesus said that Christians were supposed to not follow the Old Testament anymore....for it is just a record now. I do not understand why people still mix the Old and New testament still. Just trying to help out there!

If you have children and you are patient with them & love them is it impossible to still get angry with them?

You are putting human logic in where it doesn't apply. Paul is trying to teach us how to live. Yes, God is love--loving so much that He gave His only son to save us. How logical is that?

I think the question is really good though.

Yes He is. When you did something wrong your parents that love you very much no doubt got mad, maybe angry. If a bully got after you I bet your Dad would get teeded off yet you know he loves you right. God IS Love, but no wimp either.
Hope that Helps

Well, you heard 'em. God is love. Obviously. Because they said so.

Do as god says, not as he does. Humans go to jail for the kind of crap god pulls in the OT.

Good to have someone point out the fact that the Bible does not present God as an all loving God. God loves His children, but hates those who reject Him. God is a God of justice and deals accordingly with sinners. God is a God of mercy and shows mercy to those who turn to Him. To just label God as a God of love and totally disassociate Him with all His other attributes is an error.

Love is GOD. He created it....and no matter what happens, who hates him he still loves, and that cancels everything else. But, put/worship no one before HIM. Even Jesus.Jesus did everything God told him to do, and did it with humility. He was obedient to his father. Did God do something wrong or bad to the Christ? u pray to God, in the NAME of Jesus. For HE is a jealous god. The first commandment says "Thou Shalt have no other Gods before me". Exodus 20-3. He is our father, and a father's/ man's job is to provide for his family to be the bread winner. God is the ultimate provider, and will give you everything you need as long as you as the child do what he asked you to do. OBEY his words.Where, is not the love? You have life....that's love in itself.
