Atheists are those whom profess a nonbelief in a higher spiritual power, yes? Therefore, those whom profess a believe in a universal life force; ie'; Buddhist would not be considered Athiests; as Buddhists believe that life - the spirit itself has always been and always will be; that is the spirit is energy and energy can only be transformed, not destroyed. Therefore, multiple physical existances with only one spiritual existance that has always existed and always will. Physics seems to be proving that the universe is actually one of a multi-verse; if this holds true, then the universe may have a birth and death, but then, there is always rebirth and death throughout eternity. Question becomes, what came first the chicken or the egg; in an ultimate cosmos of neverending possibilities, the spirit changes but cannot end.

That actually sounds like fun. But since disbelief is the only commonality between atheists, we'd probably just call it meeting at the bar for drinks. Or something like that!

Atheists have no religious doctrine. "Doctrine", in the sense that it is used in this definition, means "That which is held to be true by any person, sect, or school"

It's not the same as, say, the Catholic "doctrine", which is actually a very large set of beliefs. Atheists have only one idea in common: they don't believe in god. There's nothing more to it than that.

I can't for the life of me understand what point you're making with a dictionary definition?

Because one sub-definition of one dictionary's definition of atheism includes the word "doctrine", itself a word with several meanings - you conclude what?

Here's the entry from the Oxford English Dictionary , the gold standard of dictionaries:

(eiz()m) Also 6 athisme. [a. F. athéisme (16th c. in Littré), f. Gr. : see ATHEAL and -ISM. Cf. It. atheismo and the earlier ATHEONISM.]

Disbelief in, or denial of, the existence of a God. Also, Disregard of duty to God, godlessness (practical atheism).

Added by Edit:

Interestingly, here's one of the OED definitions of "theism":

A morbid condition characterized by headache, sleeplessness, and palpitation of the heart, caused by excessive tea-drinking.

Just added that for kicks.

Yes they do. Next course up is how to tell if Santa is real. And why the easter bunny beats his wife.

It means WITHOUT THEISM. Going to church to worship a higher power that they don't believe in would defeat the purpose.

I agree that they have a belief, but what purpose would such a church have?

If you're going to go after atheists, surely you can find better material than this.
