1 Corinthians Chp 7;9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

Does this verse pertain to anyone's marriage decision?

It wasn't my personal reason but I believe this verse is a good source of guidance.

Sex outside of marriage is not right - so marriage will help you in this sense.

The hadith (collection of personal sayings) of the prophet Muhammad says the same thing.

Prior to becoming a practicing Christian, I had no clue what was really in Gods word.

So, I married because I was told to. Not something you hear about much nowadays, but nonetheless, my parents said get married or stop dating the man.

I chose marriage over staying in a less than ideal homelife.

I have two grown sons. One is married and was fully aware of the reasons for marriage. One is single, and while he states that he will marry at some point, he does not date because he feels that he is not ready for marriage and does not want to marry simply because he lusts after a woman.

Most people now a days, have sex before marriage, so the passion factor is mostly ignored as far as a reason to get married. Enough said, but from watching my sons actually try to live according to the biblical principals they grew up with, its been a great joy and blessing to watch them grow and mature without the headaches of the worlds view of love and sex and disposable marriages.

The only reason we got married is so that the military would keep us stationed in the same place. The bible hod NOTHING to do with it..Just did it because of the goverment..And still together and happy.

I can't talk for the women but a man, We aren't mature enough to really be a husband till long after we are fathers... Finally we do grow up and with God's help we become both husbands and fathers.. It is a miracle though... :) Jim

Not mine. I actually married for love... and waited till after marriage to get pregnant. Not to bad for a dirty ol' heathen, huh?
