Im a single mother of one and make about $20,000.00 a year...how do i enter this info into the computer does it go under state, federal, local or what? Im in NY if that matters at all...thx:) I also do the office work here and am not familiar with how to do this so any help would be appreciated so I dont mess up on my tax info on the payroll account...thx:)

You can claim exempt on your federal W-4 because you will not owe any federal tax for the year. Plus, you should qualify for Earned Income Credit. The amount of EIC would be about $1750.

I'm not sure how much NYS tax that you will have to plan on having taken out of your paycheck. Go to this site for NYS.

The only thing you should really have to enter is the total number of dependents you are claiming. The annual income amount shouldnt be pertinent.

You can get a copy of a W-4 form from irs.gov and choosing forms and publications.
