I have been having this problem with my dog. Is he wearing one of those Elizabethan collars, they are very annoying. OK, I bought a muzzle, that stops him nibbling his legs, at night I put elasticated stocking on both his legs, that stops him as well.

give him chamomile tea..and take the collar off about 30 minutes later..it should reduce the obsessive behavior..leave the collar off until he begins chewing again..and put it back on..as he learns to control the behavior, he will need the collar less and less.
Chamomile tea works very well, and is safe for him.
Dump it out of the teabag, and use 1 teaspoon for small breed, up to 1 tablespoon for a large breed. Mix it in a little canned food, such as Mighty Dog, or Cesar's, and give about 30 minutes before he needs to relax. It will keep him happy, but reduce stress, which is causing the chewing..it also calms nerve endings, so he won't feel the need to chew..
It can be given as needed.

There has got to be an underlying reason for him to be chewing at his legs. I would look for skin allergies or skin dermatitis. Ask a vet. You can try using a different shampoo when you wash your dog to see if that helps. You can get a medicated shampoo at Petsmart thats for skin irritations and skin dermititis. Its not too expensive either. Best of luck to you both.

Question is why is he eating his legs? I had a baby bunny that escaped, came back with a broken leg-broke my heart, put her back in with her mother who chewed her leg completely off so sad.

Think you need to know why his legs are itchy otherwise he will just constantly do it.
Think the muzzle idea middenmaker suggested might be the best way to go.
Good luck.

ask your local vet. You may also want to pick up some anti itch spray for your dogs legs. This may help a little.
